I carry it every time I go fishing since the time I got the hook stuck in my finger (that would be past the barb) while the fish flopped around on the line. I also found out that it's almost impossible to get the knife out if you are in that situation (it happened a second time) so I now wear the case upside down. An easy flip of the flap and the knife drops into your hand. There is enough Velcro on the flap to assure me that I will not lose the knife.
