Pheasant Tail and Quail Soft Hackle

Hook: dry fly #14
Thread: black
Body: brown pheasant tail
Hackle: dark quail

I shall first fish these in the surface film as emergers.
Then I shall sink them and let them drift just under the surface.
After that I shall sink them and retrieve them very slowly.
Finally, I shall sink them and strip them in with a strip--pause--strip rhythm.
The rest is up to the fish.

  1. Jim, nicely done.
In my neck of the woods you have all the ingredients in those two flies to drive wild trout nuts.
