The 2015 Fly of the Year is the Moddler. What is a "moddler?" It's one of the various versions of my modifications of the classic Muddler Minnow. The modifications are in the tail (deer hair rather than turkey quill,) the body (a variety of dubbings rather than gold tinsel,) and the underwing (primarily antron yarn in a variety of colors rather than turkey quill.) The classic muddler began as a wet pattern; I fish the moddler high and dry.
These six that I tied up for the last week of the 2015 season are representative of the flies that have consistently brought fish to the net from early Spring to late Fall. Here's to you, Moddler.
