High Country GEMS

This video is a gem.

High Country Gems from scumliner media on Vimeo.
This unplanned collaborative effort between myself and Bozeman, MT based photographer Pat Clayton www.fisheyeguyphotography.com took place on a recent hiking trip in the Greater Yellowstone region. We brought fishing gear, but never made a cast. Instead we spent a couple of days watching this incredible spawning ritual.

After a full day of shooting above water stills, I decided to capture some above-water video to go along with Pat's underwater images. Pat's underwater trout photos are superb. These Cutthroat Trout were in the peak of the spawn, bold and showing all their colors. Pat has a deep appreciation for native species and the fragile environments they inhabit, as do I. Wild Cutthroat face a never-ending threat from competing species, hybridization, habitat loss and destruction, and climate change.

Unfortunately, there's just not many places left like this.

Enjoy!

To see more underwater still images visit Pat's site at www.fisheyeguyphotography.com, or at https://www.facebook.com/fisheyeguyphotography/

This is not about fly fishing. It's about what fly fishing is all about.

Patagonia 8K

Full screen alert. This was shot in 8K resolution*, and you can see the difference. Mesmerizing.

PATAGONIA 8K from Martin Heck | Timestorm Films on Vimeo.

*From Wikipedia:
8K resolution or Full Ultra HD (FUHD) is the highest ultra high definition television (UHDTV) resolution to exist in digital television and digital cinematography. 8K refers to the horizontal resolution of these formats, which all are on the order of 8,000 pixels, forming the total image dimensions (7680×4320). 8K FUHD has four times the horizontal and vertical resolution of the 1080p HDTV format, with sixteen times as many pixels overall.

It Is Spring
